Nestled along the banks of the Nunckatessett River in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the former Nuckatessett Canoe Club was built and founded in 1904. Originally built as a storing facility for sixty-three canoes, The Nuckatessett Canoe Club offered patrons the opportunity to house their canoes while enjoying the company of their peers along the scenic river. In 1915, the Nunckatessett Canoe Club was relocated and a second story was built to accommodate a larger storing compartment for the canoes and an assembly hall on the second floor for dancing. Sadly, a fire leveled and destroyed the newly-built structure a mere two years later. For several decades, the Nunckatesset Canoe Club was a venue for large social gatherings and dances where legendary performers such as Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, and Rosemary Clooney graced the stage!
In the 1970’s, Paul and Laura were asked by a family member if they could host a Wedding at the Canoe Club Ballroom, and the rest is history! Eventually the word wedding was synonymous with The Canoe Club Ballroom and over the decades, thousands of happy couples have shared their special moments on the largest dance floor that New England has to offer. In 1982, at the age of 14, Paul and Laura's oldest daughter Stacy started working in the coat room and sealed her fate as the next generation owner of the family’s legacy. After two decades of working her way through every position at The Canoe Club Ballroom, Stacy has been planning and running weddings on her own since 1999. Just like her parents, Stacy believes in giving the best possible experience with the highest level of quality and service and all at an affordable price. It is in this tradition that she continues the family legacy as the second generation owner. Stacy loves the fact that she has successfully been a part of thousands of couple's fondest memories.
